Course Description
This non-accredited silica awareness course is designed for workers, supervisors, and others who may be exposed to crystalline silica dust during their work, or who are responsible for overseeing work activities that may generate respirable crystalline silica (RCS). This includes individuals undertaking activities such as cutting, drilling, grinding, polishing, or handling materials that contain silica. The course is applicable across a wide range of work environments where these activities occur, including construction, manufacturing, resources, maintenance, transport, and dental environments.
It supports workplaces in meeting their obligation to provide information and training on silica risks and safe work practices. The course provides a practical overview of where silica is found, how exposure can occur, including both direct and secondary exposure, and how risks can be controlled, helping participants make informed decisions and reinforcing a prevention-focused safety culture.
